Your Work for God Is Not in Vain

“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” - 1 Corinthians 15:58
I was doing too much… I could feel the tell-tale sign of my achy shoulder and knew my stress level was rising. Yet, I continued. I was the Bible club teacher, Sunday school teacher, praise and worship singer and I organized and rehearsed with the youth of the church for programs on all festive occasions.
It wasn’t that bad, I was doing the work of the Lord and keeping busy until his return. But the more stress I felt, the more I realized that no one was noticing the hard work I was putting in.
There was no thank you, no good job, not even a pat on the back and my stress grew. What I failed to realize at the time was I shouldn’t even be seeking men’s applause; only God’s.
Have you ever felt this? At some time or the other, whether it was at church, your workplace or home, you felt discouraged in your welldoing because you were taken for granted.
Sometimes, all you want is just one person to tell you good job so you can have the strength to continue… but it never happens.
This is why our key verse is so important. It is found in the book of 1 Corinthians and it was written by Paul. Paul knew exactly what we would face - the people of Corinth were facing the same problem. That’s why Paul wrote this verse to encourage them.
The good news is that even if no one mentions the good work you’re doing, God sees it. He never slumbers nor sleeps. He is ever-present. There is no good thing you’ve done in his name that he hasn’t taken note of.
Sisters, when you feel like fainting, this is when he will renew your strength like the eagles so that you will soar. He admonishes us to be steadfast, immovable and consistent.
Steadfast- this gives the image of not quitting. Be sure and steady. There is a reason God wants us to be diligent and tell us at the end our work will not be in vain.
Immovable- solid, a stronger addition to the word steadfast; in other words, don’t be easily shaken. I know you feel like the only one still being faithful, (so not true), keep being firm and faithful you’re doing it all for God.
Consistent- be always abounding in the work of the Lord. Everything your hands find to do, do it to the best of your ability because you serve an awesome God.
When Paul penned these words, he talked about the certainty of death, but its loss of power over the life of the believer.
At the time, I really wasn’t doing more than I could handle, I was just discouraged, and I allowed my thoughts to control doing my best for Christ. Now, I know for sure that when discouragement knocks on my door, I need to quote this verse and remind myself that my labor is not in vain.
All I have to do is serve him in sincerity and do my best to bring him glory. He has promised that what we do for him will not be in vain.

We love the sound of those words.
They suppose that we are too crazy about you anyway. Every time we see you we get more so, if it is possible. We know we haven’t any right to, but there are certain things that can’t be helped and that are one of them. We wouldn’t help it if we could, you know.
We retain an unalterable affection for Mr. President William Samoei Ruto which neither distance nor time can change fully trusting in that DIVINE Providence, which has been more bountiful to US than WE deserve & in full confidence of a happy meeting with you sometime—that it is well with more than 48.9 million Kenyans with you at state house.
We want you to know our hearts are full to overflowing with prayers for you!
How full of joy and happiness the world seems to be right now, for we feel now we belong to God solely, and we thank HIM for truly blessing the country with an astutely God-fearing monk as a president of beloved nation, Kenya!
How optimistic we are that you are soon to occupy the house on the hill and how safe and secure we feel knowing that you are in charge of upstaging our country. You make us proud to be pan-Africanists and Kenyans.
But what do these idiotic naysayers know? They don’t appreciate the fact that we live in the world’s next greatest nation, a nation where you can run for president, sell steaks, and promote an airport resort all at the same time.
They just want to sit around eating smeared kale salads and drink tusker from BPA-free bottles. If they would just try one Filet-O-Chick sandwich from Sugoi, their lives would be changed organically. They would see things differently and not be so weird.
We really think you are smart, you are rich and successful you are, and how unbelievably this is from your own sweats and stringed corded bands of praises, hymns and prayers unto the Awesome Almighty.
We sure you will transform this country into a jerk of “hot potato hard workers” especially the loyal hustlers.
And don’t forget your amazing handshaking rebuffs, they owe you one.
We know there are many people who disagree with us! They probably voted for Raila or Wajackoya or Mwaure. They are the people who are still mad that you won the election (with no help from the dynasties, thank you), and they will be mad every day that you are in the state house doing great things for our great nation, which will be even greater because Lord God Almighty is in charge of it.
We know there are also people who still wish that Uhuru was the president, busy at work wooing the mountain while still ruining the country. They wish he could continue to travel all over the world bowing and scraping secretly to the Chinese and the Britons and making really bad deals with them. They wish he could keep on apologizing for being a pan Africanist and not being a global citizen, or, better yet, a European.
They are jealous of all the people who show up at your rallies eager to hear about your latest accomplishments and your plans for the future. They are jealous of THE HUSTLERS` PLAN and the 50 billion shillings that will shore up the economy to the sky. If that happens, we could carry this Kenyan shilling into the next world. Even God could learn a thing or two from our nation.
Normally, we like to communicate through Twitter, @omgpx but we have too many important things to say to you to use so few words. We need lots of space to praise such a courageous and strong Lord God Almighty who saw you through to the next level for his marvelous awesomeness; Psalms 118:23.
We know you admire strong men who put their trusts in the strongest YEHOVAH, even though none of them could ever rival you in winning elections, hands down!
Vladimir Putin, for instance, is a strong man. What would it be like for you if you could handle your critics the way he handles his? Life in Uasin Gishu,Wajir to Kisii would be so much easier if you could snap your fingers and make people disappear, or if you could invite them to the state house for lunch and accidently offer them radioactive sweetener for their tea instead of sugar.
Oh, well. A guy can dream. In the meantime, you have work to do, a nation to gear upwards, a people to raise out of poverty and people to fire, not necessarily in that order.
In closing, we want to beg of you to reserve 3% of your administration to priests, prophets, the clergy, scholars of theologies, street preachers like us, saints, prayer warriors and servants of God as a way of saying thank you to the midnight lampstands that made you who you are.
You have a beautiful country behind you and note that you did a fantastic job in donating to churches, keep it up. One day, historians will look back and say you were a great president.
"Surely he only shall tend the mosques of Allah who has believed in Allah and the Last Day, and kept up the prayer, and brought the Zakat, and is apprehensive of none except Allah; so, it may be that those will be among the rightly-Guided." Quran; Surat At-Tawbah (9:18)
Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) said, a hadith reported by Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim, "Whosoever builds for Allah a masjid, Allah will reward him similar to it in paradise."
Donating money to build a masjid for the sake of Allah (SWT) is a sadaqah jariah (continuing charity), meaning the reward will continue to reach the donor even after his/her death.
Prophet (SAW) said: “When a man dies, nothing lives on after him, except for three things: sadaqah jariyah (continuing charity), knowledge which can benefit others, or virtuous offspring who will pray for him.”
We pray to Allah (SWT) to bless us in our sayings and actions and to compensate us for our effort in this life and in the Hereafter for everything that we will do for this project Kenya.
